Site updates: new features

New features will be added soon: bbpress forums, wordpress mu blogs for everyone, lighter code, more themes, more interactivity… stay locked!

UPDATE: Installed bbpress and linked it to h4x3d.com (available at discuss.h4x3d.com) | Installed WordPress MU and linked to h4x3d.com (available at blogs.h4x3d.com) – however I am not yet satisfied with the way it works. I will have to talk to zone.net on monday and sort out domain wildcards, so that blogs are created as subdomains and not appended as virtual folders). I have not finished implementing the changes, specifically added it to this site, added themes, added plugins, etc.
Care to take a peek already though if you like and register… it is nothing definite right now though ;)

I have been away, as you might have noticed, for about ten or so days. Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been to Sardina, Italy. Using my newly acquired Canon EOS 350D I took some interesting pictures (some 460 MB). Some are landscape, water, fire, plants, object pictures, others are hard to describe. Soon to come.

University is moderately occupying me, I worked on two themes in the meantime (two business style themes) – still the themeviewer at wordpress.net is down to updates. I wonder what the people maintaining it are doing. It is a community thing, isn’t it?
If they fail to patch it up, why not ask for help, I am sure many people would volunteer to help out.
I am overwhelmed by all the spam-themes removed from the themeviewer, it is really a joy surfing the corrected version. Have you tried it out recently?

In other news, there is a lot to do and my PC (using zalman reserator v2) is dying every randomly 3-5 hours or sometimes even 30 minutes. No warnings, nothing, just restarts. This is great when working in Photoshop, Word or Coding stuff. (not really)
I wonder if they can exchange it. Also my Sony notebook is being repaired once again. Quite a “monday”-model I got there. I tried out adconion when I was away and made a whooping 20 Euros vs. 140 Dollars that I usually make with Google Adsense. Now what? Keep Adconion, as they are nice and even call in, or change back to the more lucrative Google Adsense?

I am off, listening to Above and Beyond – Anjunabeats Volume 5 1-Hour Promo Mix and doing some work for university. Thank you all for your plenty comments, I promise when the next vacations come (in four weeks or so?), I will be dedicating it to updating my sites and themes. Maybe by then, they are done updating the themeviewer. sigh

WordPress Themeviewer FIXED!

Hooray for the WordPress Themeviewer at themes.wordpress.net , ~~it has been fixed and now I can finally upload all my fixed themes. More to come tomorrow evening! Got some themes stashed~~ Only bugs are fixed, uploading and updating is still scheduled to a later date. Sigh..

WordPress Themeviewer dead-alive?

You surely all know the WordPress Themeviewer over at themes.wordpress.net. It is a great resource (personally I think the best) for free WordPress Themes on the Internet to date.

To many peoples dismiss the WordPress Themeviewer is in a frozen state. For months designers could not update their themes or upload new ones – but as every coin has two sides, this has also been a great chance for designers to re-think their work and stash themes, updates and more for day X when the WordPress Themeviewer will once again be open to the public.

But why is the WordPress Themeviewer actually locked?
- Spam in form of Sponsored Themes had taken over the WordPress Themeviewer, so people decided it was time to clean out the Themeviewer’s database and add some nifty cool features to it. Matt, the WordPress Matt, posted some interesting figures about Sponsored Themes and spam-infected themes that had already been removed: in the past weeks over 100′s of themes have been reported and removed. (2000 themes roughly)

That was two and a half months ago. What’s up now? A quickÂ update on the situation would be really cool, since not even people on the WordPress Support forums have a clue.

Not completely related, but interestingly observed: The amount of theme submissions to Weblogtoolscollection per day has gone down from 14 to 17 per day to three to four. Now guess how many themes were sponsored and spammy.. ~~(just calculate the difference)Â~~

Okay, so as mentioned earlier the design has slightly changed. It took me one day to come up with a fixed Internet Explorer version. This site should now be looking okay in all Linux browsers, Firefox and Internet Explorer. I have not been able to test all available browsers, so if you spot bugs and uglinesses, please get in contact with me.

WordPress 2.2.1 got released and it includes a bugfix that I proposed. Hopefully the 4×3 problem is now taken care of.
