It has been revealed that in the upcoming Simpsons game, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening is going to be the final boss of the game, but read more below in the full interview of eurogamers.net

Eurogamer tackled Simpsons creator Matt Groening last night on the forthcoming EA game, following an exclusive 10-minute preview of the long-awaited movie of animation’s first family.

Groening was joined by long-time partner Al Jean, exec producer on the show, at the Odeon West End in London’s Leicester Square, which we blagged our way into alongside hordes of apparently professional journalists.

And when we hijacked proceedings to ask about the new game, being developed in conjunction with EA, Groening revealed he has a very big role to play in it himself.

“Well the video game is mainly written by great writers, Matt Selman and Matt Warburton – I mean, you can just tell. Great, right? They did a send-up of videogames. It’s a videogame about videogames; and I’m in the videogame.

“I’m a boss that you have to fight at the end of the game. It was really fun recording a million ways of dying, going ‘UGGH, ARGGH, EUURGH!’”

Which are possibly more levels of irony than our feeble brains can cope with. The game, which sets out to parody every notable game series and cliché it can get its stubby yellow hands on, is due out later this year.

As for the film, spoiler fans: from the teaser we saw, set aside your cynicism – it’s set to be a corker. Our 10-minute amuse bouche was an uncontrollable belly laugh of masterful observations and goofy slapstick, featuring Green Day getting bottled off stage and drowning in a sea of toxic waste, Abe Simpson struck by a confusing vision from God as Homer frantically leafs through The Bible (“This book doesn’t have any answers!”); and Bart getting his willy out on a skateboard (“I like men now,” bleats a bemused Ralph Wiggum).

The Simpsons movie hits the UK on 26th July. EA has yet to date the game.

When I first heard about The Simpsons going to the theaters I thought it was a joke – The Simpsons in the cinema? What the f? For me, The Simpsons have always been a series, short sequels of twenty minutes each that could be watched when eating a pizza after school/university or when waiting for the girlfriend to finish her hair. – but a movie?

I was not surprised when many people told me the movie sucked, but still many others that were no Simpsons fans (original fans) went to the cinemas and told me to go watch this movie. They are now Simpsons fans. So can one say, the movie lost old fans, but generated more new fans?

Certainly the movie was a blockbuster and played in several million $ (some $250m to my knowledge), then news hit the ground of a Simpsons game being released soon… Season 18 was a full success and now Fox offers (or thinks of offering) Season 19 already on Fox on Demand.

The Simpsons can easily be considered one of the most popular cartoons of this generation. After fourteen years, the show is still on the air and receiving some great reviews. We’ve seen a few video games based on The Simpsons franchise before, and we’re about to see one more. It’s called The Simpsons: Hit & Run and it seems to be refreshingly different. No more goofy skateboarding or racing simulations. This one is all about adventure and mission-based driving, making it somewhat reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto – minus all the violence and drug trafficking, of course.

In order to keep the game authentic, the storyline and dialogs will be written by the creators of the cartoon and the characters will be voiced by actors from the TV show. In Hit & Run, the Simpsons crew will be investigating some mysterious occurrences in their city. People have gone missing, crop circles have appeared, and several hidden cameras have been found all over Springfield. In the midst of all these strange events, everyone’s favorite, Homer Simpson, notices a black van with a satellite dish parked outside of his home. The game will begin with Homer and company heading out to expose Kang and Kodos (those crazy drooling aliens) as the cause of the mysterious happenings.

The title will include two main play modes: mission-based driving and an Adventure Mode. Several characters will be playable in the adventure portion of the title, including Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, and Apu, but twelve additional characters (such as Cletus, the Comic Book Guy, and Principal Skinner) will be available for the mission-based driving game play. Be ready to face over fifty-six missions, involving both driving and traveling on foot, in seven massive levels set in the city of Springfield. For the first time ever in a console title, we’ll be able to check out the insides of familiar buildings such as the Kwik-E-Mart, the nuclear power plant, Moe’s Tavern, and the Simpsons home.

Hit & Run will also feature a multiplayer mode. Up to four players will be able to challenge each other in several unlockable driving challenges. Expect to see loads of other bonuses, such as forty vehicles that can be unlocked throughout the course of the game. Patient players can also find hidden pick-ups containing episode-specific bonus material.

The Simpsons Cartoon Studio? “What the hell is this?!”, you may ask.
Cartoon Studio came out back in 1996 as yet another installment in
the long and mediocre Simpsons game franchise.

I should mention that I coin the term ‘game’ loosely when it comes
to Cartoon Studio. This is more like a cartoon creator. You are
given various cartoon elements like characters, backgrounds, props,
and sounds to create your own custom Simpsons cartoons.

So yea, take that FOX! I can make my own Simpsons cartoons! Well, I
did pay for this game, and they got some of that money…

I used to own “Virtual Springfield” a few years ago (or was it ten?) and it owned.

UPDATE: I have just browsed through several forums and sites, it seems like that dailymotion and similar sites are being pressured by the studios to clean up their sites from (obviously) illegal content. I hope someone still has backups of the real old classics, else people could face a time without the simpsons on the internet.

As I see it, Fortress Forever (It is a Team Fortress mod for the Half-life 2′s Source Engine), is already in the BETA-phase but not yet ready to be released to the public.
