Then proceed from there – it will then, after a click on the 29,99 (or whatever it costs in your local currency), open in the AppStore, where you can continue with the buying process and then start downloading.

I am doing it right now – some 3 GB to go.

http://h4x3d.com/redsn0w-mac_0.7.zip
http://h4x3d.com/redsn0w-win_0.7.1.zip

How to “jailbreak” your Ipod touch 2G:

Step 0: Get the official 3.0 firmware, without it will not work. You need to “restore” your Ipod touch 2G to the latest firmware.
You can either “buy” it on iTunes or “download” it (for free) from Apple’s website.
You would do so by going to http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and using the second drop-down menu to “get the 3.0 firmware”. This will be downloaded from Apple’s website, not Felix’ (so no worries).

Step 1: Download redsn0w from any Dev-Team blog link or the link above (it is the 1-to-1 carbon copy of their file and has not been “funked with”). Dev-Team? Yes, the guys providing the redsn0w (http://blog.iphone-dev.org)

Step 2: Extract the files and put them into a folder on your desktop called redsnow (or whatever you like)

Step 3: Locate your IPSW file for 3.0. It should be located at
C:\Users\*USERNAME8\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (or any download folder if you downloaded it).

Step 4: Copy this file into the redsnow folder on your desktop

Step 5: Put your iPod into DFU mode and connect it to iTunes. To enter DFU mode, turn your ipod off and then hold the lock and home button for 10 seconds, then let go of the lock button while holding the home button. iTunes should say your ipod is in DFU mode an needs to restore, just ignore it and move on to step 6

Step 6: Drag the IPSW onto redsn0w.exe

Step 7: Let it do its thing

Step 8: Enjoy, you are done. This takes under 2 minutes (max).

Note: if it ever freezes or shuts down. Just unplug, reset (hold both buttons), and try again.

(This nine step how-to was adapted from http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203161)

Good Luck!

You may have come accross iDeneb when looking into possible Mac OS X solutions that run on ordinary PCs (x86),
Being an Apple and Mac-fan myself I wanted to turn my Desktop PC (CoreDuo) into a Hackintosh – iDeneb alongside Kalyway seemed to be a solid choice as it is being developed and improved steadily. The word Hackintosh comes from the fusion of Macintosh and the verb to hack (as a lot of hacking is involved to get this done and running).

What is iDeneb?
iDeneb is a Mac OSX Leopard relase modified by Layne and iHackintosh Team, to run on non-Apple computers. This universal relase can run both on Intel and AMD based machines. The current version, iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6, has EFI support, but it can’t boot on old macines due the less of Non-EFI boot. This drawback has been worked out with Chameleon bootloader, that can install also on SSE2 computers. For more details check out ideneb.net

Download iDeneb 10.5.5 via Rapidshare.com

note: not my links, I have a crappy line and cannot upload stuff at all

Would you get an Asus EEE or Macbook AIR?

While the EEE is more economic in terms of price (one-seventh of Macbook AIR price), it is limited in functionality and size – but the Macbook Air looks like a portable Notebook for the fashion-victims to me. $1700 is a lot of money, even though the Dollar keeps on declining to the EURO (1,150€) I would rather not get a Macbook Air right now. The screen is powered by LEDs, so it is said. This new LED technology should reduce the battery drain and increase the usability. I am waiting for the first reports to come in, because this feature sounds really interesting… clear and crisp picture while having longer usage time? Also the keyboard has received an ambient-light (often called ambi-light). A neat feature, but worth that much? I am already cursing buying an ordinary Macbook (discounted student version for 950€), even though the battery times are great (6 hours), the performance is not that great in comparison to my old Sony VAIO which was 3 years old).

The EEE looks like a tool/toy for kids just by the looks of the promoting website – while the Macbook Air is sure to appear on managers’ desks in no time. I project Macbook Air sales to be massive… my quick 5 cent

You should have seen Apple advertisements: Even though they are short (around 30 seconds each), they are really taking the piss out of PC’s. Personally, I use PC’s: I have two desktop PC’s and one Notebook, however I thought about switching the notebook over to ‘the other side’, the ‘bright side’. Check those ads out and feel free to post additional ads in the comments.

“Accident” – depicting the Mac is safe with the MagSafe connector on new Mac notebookes comes disconnected with a tug, while PC can hurt if power cord has been yanked.

“Accident” is one of the TV commercial ads “Get A Mac” series by Apple, which launched during Emmy awards, and starring by actor Justin Long as a Mac and actor John Hodgman as a PC. Other “Get A Mac” ads as below.

“Angel/Devil” – depicting having fun with Mac with preinstalled photo editing and imaging tools.

“Trust Mac” – depicting Mac is free and more secure than Windows from spyware and viruses.

“Out of the Box” – depicting Apple macs are ready to use out of the box and that no downloads or extra accessories are needed.

“Touch” – depicting Intel macs run both Windows and Mac OS X operating system while PC only runs one operating system.

“Better”

“Restarting” – Mac’s hardware and software just works, reducing time for troubleshooting.

“iLife”

“Viruses”

“WSJ” or “Wall Street Journal”

“Work vs Home”

Also it seems like Bill Gates is not too happy about those ads, as a recent interview showed.
Actually he was really pissed. Read the full interview here.
