EuroLex uppercase is driving me insane, what about lowercase?

I am revising for law which requires taking a look at different cases, such as the all famous Cassis de Dijon case (in which the bold German government was denying the cassis to be imported to Germany as it had a too low %) -

anyway, all of these cases on the official case site are in uppercase, making it a freaking nightmare to read. Has anyone ever come up with a lowercase solution? Of course there is always wikipedia, but that doesnt cover all details…

WordPress 2.8-beta1-11402

Quite frankly I should rather be sitting down and study for the upcoming exams, but since I have been toying with my website redesign since October 2008 (last year, yes…) and the dark-ish, artistic version does not really “fit” to spring/summer anymore I am working on a day/night time theme which basically shows the old, white site when the sun is up and the dark, night-ish site when the sun is down. I was thinking how to realize this: I could have gone for an easy PHP-switch checking the server-time and therebased-on use stylesheet A or B, but since the website’s audience is spread over the world I am now opting to use a jquery javascript client-side approach. So every user, regardless of timezone and location, will be served the appropriate version.

So I hardened my wordpress by means of playing around CentOS usergroups and permissions and I was able to get the upload and cache folder to work with quite restrictive permissions (755 as the worst). Hopefully this will take care of the past security issues…

Anyhow, using the “automatic upgrade” function within wordpress I stumbled upon the “highly praised” WordPress 2.8 version (2.8-beta1-11402) and frankly it is doing “shit at all” but not displaying “pages” anymore (posts are fine). I suspect it has to do with changes in the theme terminology, but then again, why is it working on “posts” all fine? I am reverting, or at least trying to revert. The last “major issue” I have had with WordPress was the switch from 2.6 to 2.7.4… my advise: keep your fingers off betas if you can. There are not, as the devs say, for public use in open, active, systems.

I have some themes lined up, alongside the changes I mentioned above, but still exams till 2^nd of June, 09. Gah…

setting up your own community sites with WordPress. Highly recommended (however
I do dig their logo that much)

I was really surprised to read this morning that another episode of The Office was released. Actually some three more are being broadcasted before the season’s end.

This episode of The Office is S05E21 and called “The Michael Scott Paper Company”.
Michael hosts a Paper & Pancakes luncheon for his new company. Dwight and Andy pair up for a hunting trip, while Jim is confused when a â€œrundownâ€ is requested by Charles.

You may have come accross iDeneb when looking into possible Mac OS X solutions that run on ordinary PCs (x86),
Being an Apple and Mac-fan myself I wanted to turn my Desktop PC (CoreDuo) into a Hackintosh – iDeneb alongside Kalyway seemed to be a solid choice as it is being developed and improved steadily. The word Hackintosh comes from the fusion of Macintosh and the verb to hack (as a lot of hacking is involved to get this done and running).

What is iDeneb?
iDeneb is a Mac OSX Leopard relase modified by Layne and iHackintosh Team, to run on non-Apple computers. This universal relase can run both on Intel and AMD based machines. The current version, iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6, has EFI support, but it can’t boot on old macines due the less of Non-EFI boot. This drawback has been worked out with Chameleon bootloader, that can install also on SSE2 computers. For more details check out ideneb.net

The Simpsons S20E11 – How The Test Was Won

How The Test Was Won
Well first of all: The Simpsons have a new intro, instead of the “glow stick” that Homer chucks out of the window bouncing on the street, Otto sucks it up, then the end seqence when both cars arrive and Homer gets slammed into the door is longer with the Simpsons family performing a “mini story” every episode. This time it is about different times and series. This episode, “how the test was won” is all about Springfield Elementary – a new school year is about to kick-off and federal funds are to be distributed which is why a federal test is being prepared for. To get better results, Principal Skinner’s superior sacks all the usual suspects (Bart and the rowdie crew along Nelson and Wiggum’s stupid boy). They go on a fun journey and learn that school “outside school” is quite interesting. Homer in the meantime had forgotten to mail in his insurance letter and freaks out when he realizes that “he is know responsible for his own actions” – quite hilarious to see what happened to him in the past (ouch)…

American Dad S4E11 – Live and Let Fry

Released only a few days ago, this is the latest American Dad episode of season four.

Live and Let Fry
Langley Falls initiates a ban on trans fats which is used for frying everything and Stan who really likes fried food begins to ilegally import fat from another city. Haley argues that smooking weed is not legal and a ridiculous law. Stan corrects her saying the law is the law and that is that, however is a bit of a hypocrat and sets a poor example for the rest of the family when he blatantly disregards the law by crossing county lines and using Steve as a trans-fatty food mule to satisfy his own gluttonous desires.
